One Hectare

I am really enjoying reading about and getting truth from different traditions.
While it is true that 2 + 2 = 4 no matter the culture, there are different ways to getting to 4.  It always remains the same but 1+1+1+1 = 4 also.  As does 3+1.
I have been brought up a certain way and have arrived at the conclusions I have based on the way I see the world.  Someone from a central South American tribe may arrive at the truth a different way, but we both come to the same conclusion.
2 = 2 never = 5.  I may not want the conclusion to be 4.  But what I want has nothing to do with what is true.  No matter how much I may want it to be different - and I may even attempt to convince others it is different, it remains the same.
Maybe a more appropriate universal truth would be “rocks are hard.”  If I said, “rocks are undesirable,” that is not a truth.  They are undesirable when it comes to cultivating a field, but they make great fences or bases of water courses.  So they can be both undesirable and desirable.
All this has arisen for me as a result of reading books by authors from different traditions to myself.  What I am finding is the conclusions are the same, but authorities and quotes are different to my experience.
I am finding I am the richer for it.   The last thing I want is a myopic world view.  I am interested in universal truth rather than “my truth.”  Although a universal truth can be hard to accept, hearing from others from different traditions and backgrounds encourages me to hold to it.
Also when it comes to truth I am sus of those claiming “special knowledge” or that intellect determines knowledge of the truth.  My search should be just as appropriate for the intellectually challenged and the brightest person in the world.  I look for inclusion rather than exclusion.  Exclusion is a choice rather than a neccessity.
It has taken a little loosening for me.  An acceptance that maybe my tradition is not the only way to arrive at the conclusion. Yet loosening enlarges.  It is like having a property of 10 hectares but only ploughing one. Accepting the way other cultures and traditions arrive at the same conclusion means I can use most if not all of my 10 hectares.
I find value in finding that what is true is true the world over.  Accepting the answer may be 4 while appearing to reduce, enlarges.  I am free to safely explore the many different methods the conclusion is reached.
I need that. Absolutes are both restricting and enlarging.  Now there is a dichotomy (must look that word up to see if it means what I think it means).
