One Day in the Life of

24/4/2021

Today is ANZAC Day, and I honour those who take on the job of protecting us so we can enjoy the lifestyle we have.
Article 1,200 came and went and I did not even mention it.  Until now.  But I am counting on that not counting.  I post something one day and try to have another post written and with a picture before I start the day.  Last night I went to bed early and got up early.  I am watching the day dawn.
Yesterday was different.  People gathered here in our shed and I stayed out of the way.  Quilting is not my thing.  I was all dressed to work out the back.  Instead, I watched tv and slept (maybe that is an indictment of what was on tv).
After that Merril and I had lunch and went and cleaned a place we have volunteered to clean of a Friday.  It turned out to be bigger than we thought it was going to be.  Workers had been doing stuff and there was dust on everything.
I was prepared to do a boy clean.  But that was not going to happen.  Merril had me mopping despite my protests.  Every time I looked in on her she was working on the same area.  It looked great but I knew this was going to take longer than I had planned.
I left as I had someone coming over for table tennis and a chat.  We had agreed she would message me to get her when she was good to go.  If we had finished, I was going back to help her finish.
The table tennis turned out to be totally upside down.  Normally he beats me using one bat and I beat him when he uses another.  Yesterday it was reversed.  I concluded it used to be him getting used to the bat but now it seems to be me getting used to how the bat plays.
To the casual observer all bats are the same (with spin and speed being the only variable), but they are not.  I first became aware of that when I was playing a social game at a different club.  The ball sort of floated.  I was at a loss and basically it continues to this day.
To top it all off last night I dreamed.  Nothing weird there.   Most everyone does.  But I do not often remember dreams.  But this one I do.
But today is a new day.  Full of new possibilities.  I need to make it happen.  I am trying to talk myself into getting out of this chair which is quite comfortable.
I feel like this has been a smorgasbord.  But I am following in famous footsteps.  Instead of “One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich” by Alexandr Solzhenitsyn it has been “One day in the life of Peter Kuskie” by Peter Kuskie.  Probably not as interesting to everyone but it was to me.  I felt like I was there.
