Nurse

It is hard to write about new experiences, when I really do not have many at the moment.  I am just concentrating on getting well.
Recently I went to the nurse for a bandage change.  Apparently all is going well, and as expected.  I really wanted to hear that.  It would not have been a good look, if she had thrown up her hands, and had me wheeled immediately into emergency surgery.  I would have deduced at that point, that something was wrong.  I know, I’m pretty sharp.
She took one look at my wounds, (it was a double hernia op.), and did a clean, and declared all is well.  If she is happy, then I am happy.  It seems the pain I have been experiencing, which is getting less and less, is normal.  I do not do pain well.  I appreciate how serious man flu is.  I can expect the pain for another week or so.
I can also shower as I used to, without ill effect.  That was good news, and now I need to mark on the calendar the change of seasons, so I know when it is shower time again.
This nurse was so glamorous looking.  As Merril said, she was pretty and caring.  I was not going under her spell though.  I had no control over floating into the room horizontally. It reminded me of an episode of the Block, Merril and I watched.  It was a caravan restore episode.  The couple that set rules, were disgustingly good looking. The woman had had two kids, but no one would ever know.  The couple that won the challenge, are so down to earth.  She commented on the woman having had two kids, and declared she would now have to say she had thyroid problems.
When I first arrived, there were two at the desk, including this nurse.  The other one got my name, and told me to take a seat.  The nurse then declared, “oh don’t sit down, as that can be painful. I will take you straight away.”  Talk about how to win friends and influence people.  She probably had me at hello.  This nurse had a fair complexion, flawless skin, long flowing hair and was well proportioned, but do not ask me about her, as I did not notice a thing.
The truth is, I am a happily married man.  I reckon I scored really well with Merril, and I am glad she had me.  Anyone that will put up with me, deserves a medal.  We are both giving it our best shot, and wanted to do it together.
So I am thankful.  The report was a good one.  It is nice to expect normal again.  Though of course, my normal may be different to that of others.
