Not In The Plan

Well days do not necessarily turn out as I expect.
The first surprise was getting a text message from the builder saying there was stuff he had to do, so he would not be here today.  That was actually a good thing.  He lives at Caloundra.  He used to live in Burpengary not far from here.  He named his business Ocean Edge Plumbing   while still here as he had dreams of living on the Sunshine Coast.  That dream is now a reality.
We were expecting someone to come around and turn off the water (to the kitchen).  It starts to be built on Monday.  We were also expecting delivery of the kitchen so we had to prepare a place to put everything.  They rang me to say they were 20 minutes away.  So  I was waiting for them.  Low and behold the guy arrived to turn off the water.  I thought it was the other fellas.  So I introduced him to Merril as Steve.  It was Tom.  Doh!  How embarrassment.
Turns out there was more involved in turning off the water and the gas oven than expected.  He will be back Monday to cut the wall.  The gas oven is gone.
It occurred to me, “how can eggs be cooked without an oven?”  But Merril had it all in hand.  She kept out the fry pan for that.
Thing is later in the day I received a phone call from one of the cooks.  He was at the hospital.  He had been sent from place to place.  He had had an accident with his hand and it was not a pretty site apparently.  He phoned in the evening very apologetic to say he could not make it.  Thankfully I phoned someone else who was very willing to help out.  Ok I could cook if I had to - but I am so glad I do not have to.
The guys arrived and delivered the kitchen.  There were so many boxes.  We ended up with the two pantry type cupboards boxed up in the carport.  Out of the way of the car thankfully.  We used to keep two cars in there but that is now one, so we knew there was room if needed.
We also had a guy delivering a skip.  Because the granny flat had been delayed the skip was best on one side of the front verge.  The guy got the skip caught up in trees we have at the front.  We told him not to worry about it.  A couple of branches broke but they were perfectly placed for removal as they were over the skip.
I mowed and tidied the yard and am cactus.  We went and got bread and had dinner out which made the evening more relaxing than it may have been.
We seem to be crazy busy, but we knew it was coming and know there is light at the end of the tunnel.
