Needs to be Done

Yesterday was a work around the home day.  Merril and I were busy but we both did stuff that is hard to see.
Among other things, Merril had blinds she wanted to make fit into the window frame.  There were too many.  When she had finished it looked like it is made for the window.  Not something I have ever done, but something she knew how to do, and it looks great and the blind is easier to operate.
I wanted to tidy up outside.  There is still heaps to do, but what I did was something necessary that will eventually complete the picture.
It is our aim to eventually tidy the back shed (“the studio”) and to get rid of stuff we are never likely to use.  Dad was into timber, and I have kept many of his tools.  Really, I don’t see that as necessary.  I have on display what I think is antic stuff, but the rest is really surplus to requirements.
To that end we have been storing empty containers.  We have heaps.  Big ones, small one, fat ones, skinny ones, ones that squiggle and squirm.  Well, they do not squiggle and squirm.  The contents could if I kept live stuff in them like worms or live bait.  But I do not remember that ever happening.
Anyway I determined to get out every empty container we had.  So I set up two tables and put containers on them.   I divided them into lidless and ones with lids.  There were heaps.  I worked my way around the back.  Containers were in the Studio and stored in a carport we have attached to the Studio.
I was tidying as I went.  The carport is very different now.  There is still stuff I want to do there, but this phase has cleared it up a lot.
It is my philosophy when I work to endeavour to make a place look like I was never there at all.  By that I mean, only when I have put everything away do I consider I have finished.  The bins went back in place, as did the tables and any tools I used, and I stored everything in reasonable places.
I aim to have specific areas for specific things.  For example we have a “car care” area in the carport area we use as a carport.  Attached to the Studio has become a “paint, garden and general area.”  I imagine the “general” will persist until we clear the Studio.
I was absorbed with what I was doing, as was Merril with what she was involved in.  We had to go out that night, but a good day was had.
