Narnia

I love the Narnia series by C.S.Lewis.  I have read the series twice.  It was written around the time of the 2nd World war when kids in Britain were sent by train into the countryside to stay with rele’s where possible.  The 1st two books build the world.  The last is the conclusion of the world.  Books in between are standalone stories set in the world that has been built.
In the second book, (The Lion the Witch and he Wardrobe) two of the children of four sent to the country have entered the world of Narnia through a wardrobe.  The first (Earnest) has a reputation as a troublemaker.  Lucy enters the world after him.  She is considered trustworthy.
Earnest denies the existence of the world to the other children and makes out that Lucy is given to flights of fantasy.  This concerns the other two older children and they take the matter to their uncle with surprising results.  It is what he said I reckon is really good.
He asked them about the reputation of the kids.  The two older children admit they are more likely to trust Lucy normally.  It was what he told them that I have held to and made a guide to my actions.
He said perhaps she is the one telling the truth and they should let the matter play out and see where it leads.  The two older children end up in Narnia and discover Lucy was telling the truth all along.
I end up relating all matters to what I would like for me.  Where it is my word against that of someone else, if I have a reputation for telling the truth, I would prefer to be given the benefit of the doubt.  If I have done wrong, then I really deserve all I get.
It is why I am against someone being pronounced guilty on the basis of the word of another only.  If someone has a vendetta against me and makes an unsubstantiated claim against me, I want to be convicted on proof rather than hearsay.  If there is a conspiracy, whatever my case, I will be convicted.   It may not help in the short term, but if I know the truth of a matter, that is my assurance.
I know holding to that is a bit Pollyanna like, but I am of the view that just because things may be different to what I hold to, does not make them right.
Today there seems to be a lot of “go with the flow”, and “don’t make waves.”  I find where that ends up can be a scary place.
