My Island Home

Big day.  No not a big day.  Huge day.
We have organized to have a market every second weekend and the Wednesday following.  So we got all the stuff together and packed the car.  We left home at 8.15 and set up the market.
We did that till 11am and then people arrived at the hall we were in, to set it up for an afternoon meeting.  Merril and I were there to help.  We did that until around 1pm and then went home for a break.  Merril went back to do the media.  I stayed home.  We then went back around 6pm to have dinner.
While we had dinner there was some Islander dancing.  I loved it.
We then waited till 8pm when they had hired the hall to.  We all helped with the set up for Sunday.  Thankfully many hands make light work.   Merril and I were over it.  Fortunately we were home by 9pm.
The hall had been hired by a Pacific Islander group.  They were incredibly friendly.  One person we spoke to had played for the Dragons rugby league and had changed to Union.  She represents Tonga and is flying to Fiji tomorrow.
The biggest Island I have been on apart from the one I live on is Tasmania.  I really really liked it there, and thought it was so beautiful.  I would not want to live there mind.  The day of arrival was like a mid-winters day in the middle of Summer, but the rest of the time there it was warm.
I have been to Whitsunday Island.  Again it was really beautiful.  I do remember being on a walking path and coming across a snake and we both took off in the same direction down the hill.  We had to be evacuated off that Island as a cyclone was coming down the coast.
Magnetic Island off Townsville was beautiful.  We hired Mini Mokes to get around then.  The fish around the Island was what dreams are made off.  I remember playing golf there as a kid.  The greens were sand.  There were prizes for so many divisions I won mine but they forgot about that one.
I have always loved Islands and Islanders.  Perhaps that is why I get such a buzz listening to the music, singing and dancing.
