Movers and Shakers

I reckon multiple choice answers might be easier if I am going to spend this amount of time talking to myself and asking myself heaps of questions.
In fact, when I am writing procedures, often I have a FAQ (Frequently asked Questions) section.  In many cases no one is asking the questions but me.  What I try to do is cover all angles.  As a user I try to think of the questions people may ask and to have what is needed provided.
Today is no exception.  I have been asking myself a question.  The question I am asking myself at the moment is, “is the world a better place as a result of throwing out much that has been held to?”  By that I mean there seems to be much that is being vehemently expressed and held to that if I disagree with. I am made out to be hateful and holding to caveman disproven views.  The trouble in my mind is I am not hateful and much I hold to has not been disproven.
It is amazing to me to watch a tv interview and think “ask this question” and it is never asked.  There seems to be a great willingness to state a problem which everyone agrees with.  It is the reason for the problem and the solution not everyone agrees with.  Yet agenda’s deem a particular course of action to be the answer.  It may be unproven but upheld.
The thing that gets me is it seems often something is not thought through to its conclusion.  I admit I am a big picture sort of guy.  I will never forget someone at work saying decades ago, “what is right for one, has to be right for all.”  With some things the conclusion I reach is the destruction of humanity. 
Is it true that previous responses were completely wrong, or were they wrongly applied? For some thinking like this is like a “who cares” thing.  For others it is like, “this guy is a threat to be eliminated.”  For others I reckon it is like, “let me think about this.”
I can make up their own mind.  Although those in power are the movers and shakers, I want to view all the known facts, and make my own decision.
