More and More about Less and Less

You Tube is pretty amazing.  I can get access to all sorts of people and hear what they have to say.
I was listening to a guy I had never heard of.  He sure had many interesting things to say.  What has stayed with me is something that was obviously important to him.  I guess my interest was piqued because it is important to me to.
He was saying that although he held strongly to a certain point of view, what mattered to him was truth. 
I know my thinking is different to what is expounded by many.  But I feel I recognise truth by its effect on me.  When something rings true it tends to liberate me even if it is a binding thing.  In one sense that does not make sense but for me a whispered truth has more credibility than a shouted lie.
I am reminded that much I accept is floored.  Like asbestos.  Its usage was accepted big time and it was found to be dangerous.  If time could be had again it would not have been embraced.  There is a lot to that story, but for me it shows how what can be accepted in current thinking turns out to be faulty.
It is one of the reasons I often will not accept things at face value.  If that means I am swimming against the stream, then so be it.  Popular does not mean right.  If I am satisfied in my own mind something is as stated, I will go with it.  But too often what is accepted is superseded with new thinking or research.
I know that potentially a closed mind can cause me to miss out on so much good stuff.  If what I hold to brings freedom within a framework of knowing what is out of bounds and treating others as I would be treated, I will go with it.  Alarm bells will always cause me to think twice before I embrace something.  What I do not want is to embrace something based not on evidence, but hearsay, or someone’s point of view.  I am suspicious of things that make my world smaller.
It reminds me a lot of stuff learned these days.  It seems mankind is learning more and more about less and less.  What is being found is, within a particular subject, there is a seemingly endless world of things to know and learn.
My area of interest may exclude many things, but there is a whole world to explore.
