Mistakes and Wastage

Mistakes I can handle.  Wastage I have a hard time with.
It is a fact of life we all make mistakes.  It sure would be better if we did not but that is unrealistic.  It seems that making them is a great way to grow if we are willing to learn from them and move on.  What is the saying?  “He who never made a mistake, never made anything.”  I think we all need the room to grow. There is a time for the individual and a time for the team.  Knowing when time is up, is the hard part.  To get something going an individual is needed to have the vision, do and direct.  However beyond a certain point, the individual can burn out, or relinquish responsibility to another, and not direct them.  To me it is abdicating.
I heard on tv the other day something I had never heard before but I think I agree with.  The person said a strong leader seeks consensus while a weak leader imposes their will.  It is hard for a whole group to get it wrong simultaneously.
Of course there are many who will jump on a mistake to make themselves look good but their day will come.  Also, to keep making the same mistake means a failure to grow, and that needs to be dealt with.  Unacceptance is what I am hearing from multiple sources about the workplace these days.  Woe betide getting something wrong, as there are those who will point it out with the aim of bringing you down.
Then there is wastage.  That to me is expecting something to do, on an ongoing basis, more than it is designed to do.  Its life expectance is shortened big time when that is done.  I am totally for liberality and totally against wastage.
Unfortunately, our generation is responsible for a lot of wastage.  We used resources like they were inexhaustible.  To me the car is a good example.  They used to be huge.  To me they were unnecessarily large.  It was a waste.  I also know someone who burns absolutely everything.  Even freshly mowed grass has petrol thrown on it to burn it.  For me it is resource disappearing into thin air and a waste.
I remember hearing about a tree.  Used as mulch it was worth so much, but it could also be used to make a guitar, cupboard and other things which gave it a value that was much higher.
I am not a greenie in the classical sense of the word, but I am very much for making the best use of something, and reconfiguring it when it is appropriate and can be done.
That is just me though, and I am very capable of making mistakes and wasting things.
