Mission Possible

It ended up being a busy day for a day off.  One conclusion though is it is way easier to destroy something than to build something.
The mission – which I chose to accept, was to demolish a cupboard that was falling apart.  One of the workers though had started the process for me.  I wondered where the door was to one side of the cupboard.  I saw it on the ground where someone was working.  They had taken the door off and were using it for a plank to work on.
The cupboard still had stuff in it from when I lived in the place.  Raincoats, paint, spare wood, stuff from when the kitchen was done up.
The first task was to remove all that and see what was worth keeping.  Some was, some was not.  I designated an area where I would put all rubbish.  I used the bin also that is spare as the place has been vacated while it is being worked on.
Once empty I destroyed the cupboard a bit at a time.  All the while taking care not to impact the side of the garage that is the tenants of the main house.  I did put glasses on.  The cupboard was dusty.
The work was not only a voyage of discovery, it was a trip down memory lane.  I used to use the car port for playing table tennis.  The lighting was perhaps a bit over the top, but it was important to me that visibility was as it should be.  Not that I used the lights when destroying the cupboard, but there was one stored on the top of the cupboard.
I had intended to keep a bench dad and I put together, but once I had removed everything around it, I saw how creaky it was.  Deciding it should go was not a hard decision.  Some of the wood was good though and Merril decided it was good for what she had in mind.
I also rescued a metal walking rail from the skip.  Those things are so expensive, and I know a place it could go if it is modified by someone who knows what they are doing.  That is not me though.  It is metal work which is not my forte.  Merril and jokingly call ourselves the “Dodgy Brothers” (though technically we would be the “Dodgy Couple”.
Still, stuff mostly turns out well, and no-one is more surprised or pleased than us.
Destroying the cupboard was no exception, and I still had time for an afternoon nap.
