Misplaced Actions

I read something recently I like. “…try to identify your mistaken beliefs before they become your misplaced actions.”
I personally believe the failure to be willing to do so is the reason why what many consider “sus” organizations are full of people.  It is easier to have another think for me than it is to think for myself.  Sometimes I do not like what I discover about myself but to me that is way preferable then choosing to be blind or unwilling to act.
Facing stuff can be hard.  I heard someone say recently “choose your hard.”  Like it or not sometimes life is hard.  If I choose to go one way, I may face ridicule and isolation.  Or I can choose the way of perhaps compromise and acceptance.  Either way there are times where life is hard.  Times when choice alone is the governor of my actions.
But it seems it is an unwritten principle that beliefs govern actions.  If my beliefs are mistaken, then the road I travel will end in a mire.  If I am fortunate, I will get out of it.  If not, I will live and die a lie.
To me that is bad enough.  But even worse, I can take others with me.  I don’t want to go down that road.  For sure I have blind spots.  As I am fond of saying “if I knew what my blind spots were, they wouldn’t be blind spots.”   I thought it was hilarious what Merril said to me one time.  Most have heard of the question “how can you remove a speck from your brother’s eye, when there is a log in yours?”  I was working around the yard one time and carrying a log.  Merril asked innocently, “did that come from your eye?”
Hopefully if my blind spots are brought to my attention, I will be honest enough to acknowledge the truth and do something about it.  For the most part I think I have been that way inclined.  It may be why I am fond of saying, “eat the worms and spit out the germs.” (Someone once commented about that but said they were not sure of eating the worms though.)
I guess the bottom line for me is to try to nip mistaken beliefs in the bud early.  If gardening is anything to go by it is way earlier to deal with a pest plant or tree when it is small rather than try to deal with it when its removal requires a major operation.
