Mini Skip

We have been having a giant clean out.  It is not like we had a heap of stuff and it was clean out or suffocate.  It is just in living here for seven years we have accumulated things which were useful once but will never be useful again.  Having said that though I have discovered useful things in the clean-up.  I used them but what remained has gone now.
We hired a mini skip to get rid of our rubbish.  I was thrown from the start but did not know it.  I wanted a mini skip three meters long.  I confused the length with the capacity.  The skip we got was three cubic meters.  It was just under two meters long.  I could not dispose of a heap of stuff we had that was two meters or more.  Fortunately, that problem has been solved now.  We had to employ a different means of ridding ourselves of that.
We filled the mini skip well though.  We put in flat stuff first to maximize what went in there.  It was at that point I discovered a use for what I was getting rid of.  We had gotten and used artificial grass ages ago.  We got more for our shed (did I tell you we have a new shed?)  I suddenly thought that the older artificial grass would be good where we were putting the trailer.
So here I was removing the artificial grass from the mini skip.  We also determined some would be right for the bottom of containers.  I was measuring and cutting right next to the mini skip I had retrieved the artificial grass from.  It does look right, and I have only one regret.  That was having put it in and then taken it out again.
The most embarrassing thing that happened to me with the mini skip involved a trolley and a bin.  I really thought the bin would be heavy, but it turned out to be light.  I could have carried it but my thinking these days is if there is something to make a task easier then use it.  I thought, “I will take out the bin on the trolley.”
I did that, and all was well until I turned the trolley at the mini skip to unload it.  The bin being round was unstable on the trolley.  It crashed to the ground and its contents were strewn all over our verge.
It was at that point I saw the bin contained some wood.  We are using that for a fireplace.  It may only be used a couple of times in the winter, but this will save us needing to purchase wood.  I retrieved the wood and placed the contents of the bin in the mini skip.
All was well until my return journey.  I put the wood in the bin, but the bin crashed off the trolley on our driveway.  Again, the contents spilled out, and I sheepishly retrieved it and beat a hasty retreat into our back yard.
The clean up has been good.  We have gotten rid of stuff we no longer need and discovered stuff we did not know we had.  All in all, a worthwhile exercise.
