Mexican

The day is somewhat iffy.  I was up when it was still dark, and the stars were out.  But the ground was wet which made me think something was going on.  Now about three and a half hours later it is overcast.   If it stays this way, it is perfect working weather.  But it could rain.  I don’t know what it will do.  Sunday afternoon was beautiful.  I so did not expect this.
Not that it worries the Mexican of course.  That guy can sleep through anything.  I noticed the guys who removed our tree had put him in a different place.  But as far as I know he slept though the whole thing.  Including the loud chainsaws.
Well I think that is the case.  He may come to life when I am not looking at him.  He may have run for his life and returned to the spot he had been placed.  I suspect not though.  He must be one self-controlled  dude though to remain still the whole time.
Possums and birds have wandered over him.  The whole time he has stayed perfectly still.  I have even been able to put a plastic lizard on his head.  It is so lifelike that I have drawn away my hand and then realized what it was.  I mean I put it there.  But that was more than three seconds ago.
He has been put in a few places but has been where he appears in the picture for years.  Not a movement.  Not even to stretch his arms or legs.  Not that I have seen anyway.
I know that he will put up with anything though.  I bought him as a present for Merril.  I had a different car then and put him in the boot.  I heard him clunk every time I turned a corner – and she lived a long way away.  I had no idea what I was going to find when I delivered him.
That was when I realized how tough he was.  Despite the constant hitting of his head on the floor of the car (hat to be more precise) he thrived.  Well he did not break anyway.  Thrive might be too strong a word.  He has not grown or shrunk in the whole time I have had him.
As an ornament he is a great.  As a companion he sucks.
