Making Cuts

2/9/2023

Yesterday was a work from home day.  Although feelings are not the ultimate to go by I really did not feel like it.
There was a bamboo hedge to cut down and mulch.  I had an implement I thought would make it a breeze but it was heavy.  I was willing to put up with the heaviness as I thought it would make short work of the task.
Not long after 8am I got into the task and Merril got into other things that just needed doing.
Turned out the implement I had planned to use was next to useless.  I ended up using large cutters.  One of my chief aims was to ensure the bamboo did not go next door.  It had reached our roof.
I did have two breaks but by 12.30 or so it was all cut down and all the off cuts carried to our mulcher.  It was a big pile.
Merril had decided she would mulch and deposit the mulch in the garden while I swept up.  We wanted the place looking tidy as I have a meeting next week and my thinking anyway is to “make the place look like I had never been there.”
Before we started on that aspect, we had a rest and boy did I sleep well.  I was bone weary.  I was trying to avoid camping up.  I have noticed that after a certain time doing physical works I sometimes get cramps these days since the tumour.  So far so good though.
It ws while raking I got the first of them.  I finished one aspect of that then assisted Merril to mulch and deposit the cuttings.
We finished doing that under lights.  We were amazed what we had gotten done and were very pleased with the results.  We determined cutting the bamboo would be a once per year thing.  It is clumping bamboo and does not travel.  We put it up to make a screen.  It works but grows onto the roof and makes a highway for the critters to travel on (plus fills our gutters with leaves)
Having someone else cook seemed like a good option and we took to.  The day is history now.  But good history.
