Make My Own Way

I do not ever remember going through a book as slowly as I am going through this one.  “Atomic Habits.”  I think I am treating it the same as I did Coveys book on the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People.  It is not so much habits that I am looking at, but life principles.  Things I reckon are good for me and others who want to take certain things on board.
The reason I dismiss the habit thing is I know what it is like to set myself up for a fall.  Forming good habits come easy to some.  Yet there are a lot (and I include myself in this lot) who struggle and have tried to change and failed.
Something said in this book a while back resonated big time with me.  So often failure leads to doing what I am trying to avoid.  For example a person may want to loose weight.  They try something and fail miserably.  What often happens.  Overeating.
For me in pursuit of life principles I really like what I just read.  He was talking about how often the rules of a game preclude someone from being one of the best.  All the hard work and following what to do leads to mediocrity at best.  He said often it is better to invent your own game where what is needed is what you have.
He cited the inventor of Dilbert cartoon strips.  The guy knew he could draw better than many and he was funnier than some.  Also he had his time spent in business.  That made for a perfect combination for a cartoon strip.  It has been wildly successful.
My take away from it was I should not be comparing myself with others but using what I have.  That not only takes some pressure off for me, but I can imagine it would for others as well.  I have a unique combinations of abilities.  The way I present it can be unique and relatable (relatable because some have some of what I have).
I may not be the best at games already invented but I can be the best at a game I invent.  I may as well have what I have work for me.
