Make it Happen

I have grappled with the difference between waiting for something to happen and making something happen.
I am definitely not one to try to force things that cannot and should not be forced.  That can create casualties rather than freedom.  Wanting something desperately is not a license to me to go for it by hook or by crook.  Sometimes I reckon waiting is the best strategy.  Timing to me is everything.
When the timing is right, it seems to me what could be really hard, and an effort, and uphill climb, is easier.  The consequences can still be messy and require a good tidy up but for me what is expected can be dealt with.  When what happens I am ill-equipped to deal with, is a different story.
What I find disappointing when I see it in me, is recognising a need for change but being unwilling to do something to make it happen.  I do not reckon that what I want to see change will ever happen while I remain unwilling to be the agent of change.
Too often it seems to me it is easy for me to recognise a need and declare a situation is unacceptable, but for me to expect someone else to be the catalyst for that change.
I subscribe to the principle that if I recognise a need for change, then I am to play a part in setting it into motion to happen.  I may not have the skill sets needed, and I may not be the one on the front line when it does happen.   But I do think that if I see something as important, I am to play my part in setting into motion events to make it happen.
The butterfly effect says that one action here can have consequences elsewhere beyond my original thoughts.  To me, that can work for me.  It is funny how when I set my mind to something I suddenly start seeing things related to it.  I have mentioned it before but when we bought a Rav 4, suddenly I started seeing Rav 4’s everywhere.
To me it is so easy to miss opportunities when I just state a problem without actively pursuing the solution.  For me it requires less effort, and I can get on with other matters important to me.  But as far as what I would like to see change is concerned, I remain a part of the problem rather than a part of the solution.
