Make it Happen

Yesterday ended up being a work in the garden day.  It is not like I feel I am making up stuff to do.  There is heaps that needs doing.  I must confess though I feel I am running out of steam and someone else looking after the yard is becoming more and more appealing.  We do have someone coming around Monday to deal with some trees that need to go.
What we have been trying to do is have the place as prepared as possible for the visit.  To that end I have been going around the yard dealing with it in sections.  In the afternoon Merri did some cleaning up and thinning out of a tree that is alive and well.
I had thought I may do some work around the yard the day before.  But I decided I would treat it like it is, my day off.  So I did not do much and instead, slept, read and watched tv.
The day following I was of a mind to get in and get some things done.  I tackled a garden bed that I felt needed thinning out and the weeds dealt with.
But before that there were tree stumps to get out.  I had been there before and felt if I did it a certain way, the tree stumps would come out as easily as they could.  And fortunately that is what happened.  A combination of watering and strategic digging around the tree did the trick.
As far as pruning went I was on a roll.  I got rid of small trees and cut back others.  I felt the area was more crowded than I wanted.  The goal had always been to make a nice garden that did not need mowing.  It really is still the goal.  It has meant so much work it sort of defeated the purpose.  But I am hoping the end is in sight.
We do like the garden I was working on.  The birds like it too and can be seen in it while we are sitting on the lounge couch.
But there are other things to do today.  It will be a couple of days before we get back into it.  We make time and make it happen.  That is the plan anyway.
