Ok I’m ready.  I’m prepared.  Bring it on.  Ohhh….so soon?
We are dog sitting again this week, and I reckon we know what to expect.  We are looking after Lucy.  We both love Lucy.  Something like that would make a great title for a show.  Something like, I love Lucy.  Wonder if it has been though of before?  If she was a flying rich dog she might be Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, but she is not.
People rave about their pets.  We do not have any now, but I really understand why they do. They have real individual personalities.  I will not say that in Lucy I have met my match, but there are definitely some things she is better at than me.
We now have our enclosure out the back where I sit, enclosed.  This is both good and bad.  Well it is really mostly good.  It means the mossies cannot enter, and it also means we cannot throw the ball for the dog from here, and have it end on the roof of the shed.  What I will miss though, is throwing the ball from my chair towards the bird feeders, and seeing all the birds scatter at the dogs approach.  Oh well.  I know Merril will not miss that.  I am sure I will find something else.
The only thing we need to do is bang in three star pickets, and I will put the orange tape around it.  This is to protect the raised gardens near our enclosure.  I use the term gardens really loosely.  I do know though, that a dog does not recognise “garden” like we do.  They just see it as something that can come between them and the ball, and nothing will do that.
Normally I would dig in the star pickets, but on Doctors orders, I am not allowed.  I would love to be helping Merril dig and make our air raid shelter, and change our home from one story to 17 but hey, orders is orders.   All I can do is sit and watch.  Though watering helps me get a better view.  A chair helps too.  Oh and a coffee.  And something to nibble on.  Comfortable clothing and maybe a robe is a plus too.  The down side is, all the noise prevents me from sleeping.
Merril is like “Fit Spice” at the moment, and I am sure she will look good walking with an Alsatian beside her.  No one needs to know Lucy was disqualified from being a guard dog because she would not bite.  Appearance should be enough.
I do sometimes go on walks with Merril, walking the dog.  It has helped me in discovering some of the parks around here.  I would not have known there is an off lead area not far from here.  It is great cause I can fun free.  Ummm, the dog can run free.  There is only ever one thing on its mind though.  It is that ball.  We now get the right sort of ball. We discovered what the wrong sort was, when it was destroyed.  The upshot though, was one ball became several balls. Pieces might be a more apt description, then ball.
So only one more sleep to go.  Well maybe two or three, but we know for sure, we are looking forward to having her here.
