I have been writing about our ornaments around the garden.
Today it is about one of my favourites.  We call her Lucy.
I was actually thrilled when Merril named her that, because Lucy is one of the main characters in the Narnia series.  Merril had never read Narnia (I have read all the books twice and I have a copy of it all in one book now.)
What I really liked about Lucy was her devotion to and love for Aslan the Lion the High King of Narnia.  It may have been her in a time of trouble that said (I looked it up and could not find an answer) that said, “there are reports that Aslan is on the move”  I love that picture.
So we have this ornament in our garden.  I bought it from a shop down the road that no longer exists. But it existed long enough for me to get that.  I have actually experienced that a couple of times.  There is a shop still in existence that was selling sets of pictures for a really reasonable price.  I would go in and check what they had.  I bought a few which we have on the wall at home.  One was musical instruments (I have played piano and guitar).  The other was a set of three that were sailing boats (I crewed in a catamaran and dad was into sailing for a while).  That shop has not sold pictures like that for years.
So while our ornament was nameless it was not nameless for long.  We actually do have a lion ornament but that is another story.  It has pride (get it – pride…pride of lions) of place in our back yard.  Fortunately it is not of stone though it looks that way.  I think it is made of some hard plastic and is light.
Light is good these days.  Instead of putting rocks in the base of plants I now put polystyrene. I was encouraged to see someone on gardening Australia do the same.
Like all ornaments she is just “there.”  Though when I do look there I am reminded of Lucy and books I love.
