Love like there is no tomorrow

This is a great chance to listen to some songs. So often I do not know what I have done but I like it. With Spotify I have a playlist of songs I have made. Last time I went to my playlist it had radio songs added that were based on my playlist. I had a chance to listen to some really good songs I did not know existed by bands I did not know existed either.

I still like Bob Dylan. It seems his words are full of meaning and imagery. But there is other stuff by other artists I am finding impacts me big time. There were words I heard the other day, put in such a way I had not considered.

I am used to hearing “live like there is no tomorrow.” What they sang instead was, “love like there is no tomorrow.”

I do like that. I have heard it said that if I knew the world was ending tomorrow I would plant a tree today. That makes sense to me in that I know that whatever I am doing when I know it is the thing I am to do, I just need to keep doing it. I reckon if I need to change what I am doing in the light of the new knowledge, I need to change what I am doing now.

Living like there is no tomorrow is something I have thought about and acted upon. But loving like there is no tomorrow, puts a new slant on the familiar.

I often hear it said that it is good to love now as the future is unknown and I may not get a chance later I think I have.

To me loving is not just about saying it but about doing it. It makes no sense to me to just say I love you to a hungry person. Love to me is feeding not just saying. Appropriate words are good but to me they are proved by appropriate action. If I am all words and no actions the hope another may have is in vain. Hope that proves worthless is worse than no hope at all.

I have found that big time. As least where there is no expectation, other meaningful courses of action can be taken. But to say I love and be believed but not to act like it, is to potentially see someone abandon a right course of action and be left with nothing. The last state of that person is worse than the first. It is always better to me to say I will and to do it, than to say I will and rescind.

To love like there is no tomorrow is to me just to do it because it is the right thing to do. The actions of others are out of my control, but to love in word and action like there is no tomorrow, is something I can do that is always the right thing to do.
