Lone Ranger

It’s funny how more and more I feel we need to stick together.
The days of the Lone Ranger seem to be at an end.  It seems Lone Rangers are out on a limb and by themselves.  As I heard someone say “if you live for the accolades of others then be prepared to cop the criticism of others.”  It seems being fawned over has limited life span.  One only need make a mistake.
I actually do not think it is that healthy to be alone.  In war, armies need supply lines and the most vulnerable are the most exposed.  I also think of animals that huddle together – often with the youngest at the centre for protection.  It is the exposed one who is the target of a hungry pack.  Worse still if they are exposed and weak.
The more I think about it the more I feel we need each other.  It is not a reason for mediocrity.  Better to excel when others have my back.  To me to excel from within is safe, while to excel from without is fraught.
I get much greater satisfaction where I know others share in both my victories and defeats.  It is often difficult to celebrate another’s success when success eludes me.  I really do feel I need a love that works – love that has a name.
When I am crook, I go to the doctor and he or she gives me what I need to get me better and raring to go again.  I feel it is the same with those around me who care.  If I am sick - alone I am vulnerable.  If I am sick with those who care I am looked after and nursed to health again.  Then I can contribute again.  I am not left to suffer an unnecessary fate.
Individualism is trumpeted.  I cannot help but wonder if the opposite is better for me.
