Life Lessons

Click here tI have just written article 550.  I have been re-reading some of my posts.  Someone said to me they wondered how I got from one thing to another sometimes.  In re-reading them, I can see what they mean.  It is not all the time, but occasionally I will read and then ask myself “how did I get to that?”  If I cannot answer that question, what chance has anyone else got really.
One thing I did notice big time was that much of what I say is the same but put differently.  Certainly there are many posts that are unique (especially one off events) but many are the same but different.  Why should this time be any different?
I have been pretty lazy the last few days.  Physically that is.  In my head is a different story.  Seeing Merril dig with the pick and lay cement was hard, but I got over it.  Actually she has not been doing that – more like sewing and tidying.  Then there is that incredibly important task of feeding me dinner.  Something sumptuous.  Actually it does not matter what it is.  Sometimes it is what she prepares and at other times, if we have had a big lunch, it is something simple for us both.  Whatever way I am thankful.
I don’t know that I would have made a very good lord.  I would be too busy thanking the people all the time.  Sure they may be doing what they do, but while someone may be doing what is expected of them, I can never take another for granted.  All I am and all I have is a gift in the first place.  I can take no credit for what I was born into.  I can enjoy it, and try to improve it, but I can never take it as my rightful position.  The thing is, I could have been born to the highest in the land or the lowest.  It was not something where I could pick and choose.
It seems no matter what my station in life, respect needs to be earned.  I can be really high brow and have everyone laugh behind my back, or I can be the poorest of the poor and be regarded as a sage.  It is not determined by what I am born into but by what I become.
I personally like that, as it means I do not need to be rich and powerful (though I’d take it) in monetary terms.  I can be rich and powerful in learning from life lessons.  Besides, relating to the rich and powerful in monetary terms is not something that comes naturally to me.    A good thing though, is life lessons seem to transcend status, and are true no matter the circumstances in which they were born.o edit.
