Letting Go

Why is it that some things seem to come so clearly?  I like spending time on spreadsheets and the like.  Looking into stats. And seeing trends.  I have spent days recently working on something I am hoping others can use.  Ensuring it was user friendly.
I must confess there are many new systems which feel like they were not designed with the user in mind, but designed with the designer in mind.  They can be so hard to follow.  Not intuitive at all.
There are a few things that need doing around the yard.  I know I will do them, but I admit I am over them.  I have decided it is time I enjoyed the fruits of someone else’s labour when it comes to physical matters.  I always have enjoyed doing such things, but they feel more like a chore these days than a delight.
That does not mean I do not want things to look good.  I just want for someone else to do them.  In the meantime, I will do what I gotta do, but if someone else steps forward to do them, I won’t get in their way.
There are a couple of things that I hold to strongly.  Keeping my word and finding what is right for me to do and doing that.  Avoiding the “yes” syndrome.  Saying yes to something just because it is needed rather than because it is my passion.
Admittedly holding to those two things can bite.  Sometimes it is only in the looking back I see something was a mistake.  Yet a desire to keep my word means I need to stick with something until another way is found.
Someone I admire a lot who is getting older now says they used to do everything.  They do not now.  They were under the mistaken notion that they were the best person for everything.  Having gotten older they have realized it is better to do what they feel is them, rather than everything that may need doing.
I learned how dispensable I am when I had the stroke and was not needed anymore at work.  When something continues to be important to do, someone is always found to do it.  It does not have to be me.
So for me it may mean I continued doing what I am doing but with an end in mind.  There are some things I know can go, so I can concentrate on what remains.
