Leaning Patterns

I am deliberately having a more leisurely start to the day than normal.  In the last several days I have not had a rest in the afternoon.  I felt it was time to catch up on some rest, so I did that last night.  It is rare I get up as late as 5am but I did today.  I have done several things I like to do and have other things I need to do.  Yet they happen after I post.  Posting is now.  Like real time.
I have been giving thought to learning new tasks.  I have contemplated how I have done it in the past.  Often some relevant experience is necessary to be selected for a job.  Yet once I get the job, I find it best to act like I know nothing.
Every system is different and there are different ways of doing things.  Yet I find it important to learn a task the way the current person teaches.  What I often find is that acting like I know nothing lends itself to learning new things.
There are times I get instructed and something is mentioned I had never heard before.  I find that if I act like I know everything it is easy to miss out on what I do not know.    Changes may be advantageous down the track, but for a start it behooves me to find out the way something is done, and to do that consistently.
Often the time for change is not immediate and relevant only after a task is learned the way it is currently done.  Any changes should be made in consultation with the one in control.  After all it does not help to appear to be a threat to the one in control.
Once trust is gained and reliability established, changes for the better can be suggested in a non-threatening way.  But I do know I am different to many others.  I suggested something to my boss at work and a number of years later the idea reappeared like it was their idea.  I really do not mind as the important thing to me is a job gets done the best way possible.  Who gets credit does not matter to me.
Anyway that is the sort of stuff I have been contemplating.  Maybe the book I have been reading has to do with thinking like that.  I just know that such a way of doing things has aided my growth and made at least two happy.  The instructor and me.
