Leadership

I put a picture up that showed lights over a road around the wrong way.  Someone commented that the thing to remember is that this was probably done by a group.
I reckon that is right.  Pure speculation on my part but I can see a leader saying “it is done this way.”  After the first someone in the group would have dsaid “are you sure boss it does not look right?”  I can just imagine the boss a=saying, it is right, I know what I’m doing.”
It got me thinking about leadership.  Some leaders are that way due to their position.  We had one many years ago at work that was great at saying what to do but not doing it.  Although he said the right thigs he was not an inspiration as he refused to lead by example.
The thing about those in power even if by delegation of their position only is a follower needs to obey even when they disagree.  I will never forget in the movie ANZAC’s the troops being told to go over the top of the trenches as the one with the power cited a report (unverified) that a flag was seen in the enemy trenches.  The decision cost many lives.
There are others I believe that rise to power.  They have willing followers and while things are going well and others believe in them, they are successful.
It is my belief that a tipping point is reached.  There comes a time the power wielded is enough to overcome any opposition encountered.  The leader ensures key followers are comfortable and catered for.  From this basis it seems they maintain power perhaps even in the face of reasonable opposition.  Some chose to wipe out opposition to maintain power.
It is my conviction that leadership should be followed but it is important to realize that power can corrupt and absolute power corrupt absolutely.  I need to be careful what I wish for as sometimes I can get it not realizing what I have unleashed.
