Lazy Days

8/1/2023

I look forward to days like this.
Both Merril and I had plenty to do at church.  We had roles on a roster.  Also, there were people there visiting I did not expect to see, and I was really glad to catch up with them.
It is a bit of a tradition that on Sunday Merril and I get fish and potato scallops.  The shop is just over the road from our church, so I ring them with the order, and it is good to pick up by the time we get there.
I also traditionally collect and Containers for Cash.  Merril and I usually make a trip there once per month.  I normally take the containers home and sort them.  The glass bottles go into freezer bags we have gotten from the shops, and the plastic and cans go into large plastic containers.  The trigger for a trip to cash them in is three large plastic bags and however many freezer bags.
As I say a trip is normally once per month.  Proceeds are donated to the church.  Normally it is about $60 or 6,000 containers.  But Monday is the 9th and we will need to make our first trip from the month then.  The containers kept on coming.  8 bags needed to be taken home and sorted.  At this rate a record could be set for the month.  I am a bit of a records man.  I guess it is my little world but a cheer (on the inside) goes up over such things.
I also remove any tops still on the containers.  They get donated to a place that sends them to a third world country which makes melts them down and turns them into plastic limbs.
I need to find another crowd that does that.  I was giving them to someone across the road who’s daughter saw they got to where they needed to go.  But that person told me they just cannot do it now.  Their hubby was going into hospital.  He has had all sorts of problems since a pole fell on him in his work for an electricity company. Anyway I say that because I got a heap of tops too.
So lots of good stuff happened for us.  When we left, we had lots of stuff in the car, got our fish and then went home.
We love Sunday afternoons as we make a point of having the rest of the day off where we can.  It was such a day.  After eating we had a snooze and I sorted stuff.  Then we talked, watched tele, had dinner and went to bed.
As I say I love those days.  Sometimes doing nothing is the best thing I can do.  Nothing like recharging the batteries.
