Laid Back

24/1/2024

Yesterday felt like a more laid-back day.
I got up early as is my custom and after prayer I managed to get a few things done on the computer.  Stuff I had to do, but it seems getting started was the hardest part.  It was not long before I felt I was on a roll.
Merril was preparing for her dad’s memorial service.  Scanning pictures and preparing a slide show with music.  There will be a couple of those as another sister is preparing one for during the service and Merril’s will show as people mingle.
At lunch time Merril and I met up with a cousin and his wife on mums’ side of the family.  The last time we saw them was at their mum’s funeral.  She was my mum’s sister and one of the nicest ladies I have ever met.
I looked forward to that get together and was not disappointed.  He is one of three cousins who were the sons of my aunt, and they played a significant role in my youth.  We have gotten together a couple of times over the years.  They came to my brother’s funeral and Aunt Margaret was still alive then and (I think) a feisty 90 something year old.  Before she passed, she got mild dementia and was in a home.  My oldest brother, Merril and I went to see her.  The whole company was so good.
After lunch Merril and I came home for a rest.
We went out again in the evening and one of the things I did on the computer was in preparation for that.
The yard work has been on hold.  The last couple of weeks have been very unusual and not something we anticipate needing to go through regularly.  Merril’s dad passing and me getting covid and the extreme heat has seen me house bound for much of the time.
Merril has been doing what would be expected.  Merril’s dad’s memorial marks a milestone, and he is missed big time.
I feel like I am ready to start work again after this, but the weather may put paid to that.
