Keeping Busy

What a day!  As usual it started early.  There are things I do everyday generally before it is light.  I did those things but knew there was a big day ahead.
I had a few phone calls to make.  I did not enjoy the success I hoped for with these.  For both of them, I needed to leave a message.  It is pointless voice mailing me though as I just cannot get the messages.  People are better off texting me or calling me back.  When I know the number I will call back.  If I do not know it, I figure if they really love me, they will call me back.  Although mostly it is a case of if I owe them money, they will call me back.  One of the phone calls came through while I was driving, and I pulled over and walked away from the car to answer it.
I have been going though Stu’s house and things.  Some were going to Trash and Treasure.  I told some people and said grab what you need.  They did, and the pile to go away was less.  Still a trip was needed to take it away.
We had also put together a pile of cloths and shoes.  Some one was getting them, so they were later loaded into the car.
I have been going through every room (except the kitchen – Merril volunteered to do doing that.  My goal is to have every room clear (but done with stuff expected to be there so people see what it could look like.  I must admit there was one area that I had avoided to the very end.  Not because of any emotional attachment, but because it was awkward and a hotch potch of things.  It was a great relief when I rang Merril and she told me she had done it.  I was on the mobile phone and when I looked lo and behold it was clean and clear.
I could not believe it when I rang the scrap metal man to find out what time he was coming to the home (I had rung him a few days ago and we had said Thursday was the day).  He said he would be at the home at 7.30am.  That is understandable but seemed really early.
I loaded stuff into the car and came home at 4.30.  After unpacking the car and doing a few things I had a break at 5.30.  Someone was collecting me at 6pm for table tennis.
Our team is doing well but very little thanks to me.  Someone needs to be last in the division and I am it.  Normally it does not get to me.  I know I make others happy when they beat me, but I never let anyone win.  They win fair and square.
The night was following its usual course.  I had not won a game let alone a singles match in weeks.  Even in doubles we were up two nil and lost three two.  I showed flashes of brilliance early but lost the plot.  Then, wonder of wonders, I the number three beat their number one three zip.  No one was more surprised than me.
There was other stuff I did but that was yesterday.  It is over now.  Today promises to be busy again.  Today is normally my day off but Stu’s yard beckons.  It is still hard, but it is getting easier as day follows day.  I am one who for my sanity, needs to keep busy.
