Keep the Home Fires Burning

I have no idea why I am writing this.  Ok I have an inkling.  Alright, I totally know why I am writing this.  What I genuinely do not know is, will I post it?  You see, it is personal.
Personal not in a “whoa, too much information!” sort of way, but personal because it means a lot to me.  I should probably stop now, as if I open my mouth, it will be just to change feet.  So, my lips are sealed.  My fingers are not though.   I would probably type with my toes if I had to.  I reckon my toes would get fairly dexterous, but I would go through a few computers.
My mum passed away in the mid-nineties.  I don’t even know the day, month or year.  That’s bad.  I do know though, I liked her.  That sounds totally weird, but it seems to me, as family we are expected to love, but it does not mean we like.
For mum, old age did not mean she knew everything.  I reckon she grew nicer.  It seems some older folk are just set in their ways, and often visiting them is a chore more than a pleasure.  More and more, I liked spending time with her.
After she past and we buried her, a song kept ringing in my head.  I like Spotify as it enables me to hear the full output of artists.  I knew the song, but not the album.  Spotify enabled me to find it.  I learned the artist is now 74.  In any language, whether it be Chinese, Spanish, English or some obscure Amazonian dialect, that is getting up there.  He had an album called “Sheep in Wolves Clothing.”  I like that.  I have bought an album based solely on its title.  I’ll admit it.  I like old rockers.  The kind that causes a car to bounce down the road rather than drive smoothly.
I thought the song was called “Keep the home fires burning.”  It was however called “Letter from the Front.”  I have listened to it many times again.  I searched the web for the words.  I went to one of the biggest lyric sites on the web and they had 0 songs by this artist.  That is zero, zilch, none, nil, not one.  I went to his web site.  Nope.  Not there.  I determined that if I wanted the words, I would need to copy them out.
Verse 1, Chorus, Verse 2, Chorus, music, repeat chorus, music and fade out.  The music part features a sax which would bring a tear to a glass eye I reckon.
The chorus went:  Keep the home fire burning, with his eternal flame/ Keep on living what you’re learning, and you will never be the same/ Cause good news has come from heaven, the wars already won, that’s why I wrote this letter from the front.
I particularly loved “to all the intercessors” (in Verse 2).  That was my mum.  She really did need to deal with all the pressure (as the song says).  I don’t know that I will ever understand what it takes to fight someone’s battle for them, when they cannot fight it themselves.
I know a number of people, and I am one of them, who feel like they are the hub of the family.  I have a relationship with all.  Others in the family do too, but the connection is not as strong.  I really felt I was to continue doing what I was doing.  The baton had been passed.  It was my turn.
