Keep on Keeping On
Life is more interesting than I have ever known it.  The old Chinese saying says, “may you live in interesting times.”  Bad storm, heat wave and now possibly bad storm again.  I have never felt times were so interesting.
We are endevouring to get the place inside and out the way we want it.  I have been working on the outside.  Merril is working on the inside.
I am trying to get the yard more like a park than a garden.  That is all very well but to be honest I have never been impacted by heat like I have in the last few days.  After 8am I feel it is too hot to work in the yard, and I do not go back to it till mid to late afternoon when it is starting to cool down a little.  I am pleased with what has been done, but know it is taking longer than ever.
Mum used to like to say, “the day is coming when it shall burn as an oven.”  Fair dinkum I was not thinking of that but going outside recently I thought “it is like an oven out here.”  That was when I was reminded of what mum used to say.
A guy who comes to market showed me a picture he took of cooking sausages in his wheelbarrow.  I had never seen that before.  He put foil in the bottom and cooked sausages all day.  In the evening they were ready to eat.
After this we want to deal with the wood pile.  Dad was manager of a timber company.  We have a lot of wood.  We were saving it for “one day.”  That day has come and gone, and nothing happened, so we will decide what to keep.  Again a market person said “put it out the front.  It will go.  Wood is so expensive these days.”
We also want to clear our shed.  To identify it we call it the “Studio”.  Merril has some painting stuff in there and the rest is taken up with tools and the like.  Someone said they were amazed how much we got in.  It is true but it now needs a tidy up.  We are hoping to deal with that soon.
We want to work our way around the property and so much is major tasks.  So as we get the chance, we will attack the issue.  It will happen.
