If being interested in something made me a millionaire, I would qualify but it doesn’t.  I guess like Cornel Sanders the only way to qualify to be a financial millionaire, is to become one even if I am 80 something.
Once again I have read something that has blown me away.  I recorded it in writing when I saw it.  It was said by a guy called Derek Sivers “Focus on your existing customers.  Just thrill them and they will tell everyone.”
I guess I can agree with that because my experience tells me the same.
Years ago Merril and I bought Chinese take away.  It was the worst Chinese take away I have ever had.  I told all and sundry to avoid that place.  I guess they never changed their ways as they were not there after a while.
By the same token there was a shop down the road (it is no longer there for other reasons.  A huge shopping centre was built on the site.  But I reckon they would have made a gazillion dollars and moved on)  Prices for most things were ridiculously expensive.  All except their burgers.  They were just the best burgers.  One was always too big.  I got two meals out of a burger.  I recommended the burger to everyone.
I have heard that when it comes to customer experience the experience of one person impacts 15.  And each one of them influence another 15.  Hundreds are affected by the experience of one person.
So I agree.  Thrill one and many are influenced.  Fail to thrill and the same applies.
A guy I worked with judged fish shops by the same rule.  He would go to fish shops that had crowds outside as he figured people must have had a good experience if many are there. (I ha a laugh.  My brother bought fish from the place but had left it on top of the car and arrived home empty handed.  I had to use the road later and saw the fish on the road.  I told him I knew the type of fish he ordered – flathead)
The point for me is thrill customers, and the customer base grows through word of mouth.
