Just DO It

Days can be the same but different.
It is strange how things can hit at the same time.  Merril and I both want to downsize.  We have come back from our trip questioning the value of keeping some things.  Some things were kept for a rainy day.  Well rainy days have come and gone, and we still have them and have never used them.
It is not about getting rid of things willy nilly.  Some things are kept as they have sentimental value.  What is worthy to me may not be understood by another, but they mean something to me.
I find keep sakes of those since gone are things I like to hold on to.  I do not want to keep all but enough so I have a remembrance of them.  I have a wallet of mums with some of her writing, a few memento’s of dads, and the same for Stuart.
We have decided it is good to get rid of some things while we can.  There will come a day when others will be tasked with doing things we could once do ourselves.  There are few things sadder in my mind then someone who objects but is powerless to do anything about something.
I am finding out that the ability to do something while I can, is a closing door.  Whereas once I may have committed a day to a task, I need to commit several days to the task now.  But my thinking is that what matters is something that needs to be done gets done.
It does not help that I have been crook.  That has slowed me down.  It also does not help that Merril is now crook.  One of the tasks we had assigned for yesterday was to get our spa fixed.  It has been good for months and decided the leak the day we were going on holidays.  We turned it off and walked away.
Yesterday a guy had said he could fix it.  He was due at 11.  When he did not arrive I rang him and received a new time of coming of 4pm.  He came and fixed it.  Refilling it has been put off till today.  Hopefully all is good.
Merril had a computer to repair and banking to do.  Nothing was easy.  It took ages.  She could only talk to the repair man at a distance as she was not well enough to get close.  I worked in the yard.  I notice I am way more bone weary than I used to be.  I guess that comes with the territory.
Anyway the race is on for us to do what we would like to get done.  We are both amazed at what has accumulated in about 10 years.  Still, inch by inch everything is a cinch.  Our aim is to do what we can while we can.
