I heard something today that I really liked.  I had never heard it before but hat was said had a real application for me I thought. “If I won’t change, what I face will change me.”
For me it is not something I necessarily like hearing.   How much I like something does not determine its rightness or wrongness.  What is true is true whether I like it or not.
In fact it seems for me that often what I do not like, is good for me.  I never liked castor oil but it was good for me, and did me good.  Some vegetables I eat, not necessarily because I like them, but because the consequence of having them is for me, better than the consequence of not having them.
That is one of the reasons why for me it is good to hear things from unlikely sources.  Many are familiar with one of the driving forces of my life being a simple kids statement “eat the worms and spit out the germs.”  I need to embrace what is true, no matter what the source and whether I agree with the majority of the thoughts presented.  Sometimes there is a worm surrounded by many germs.
Many does not mean all.  There are things I stay away from, as I can find a greater abundance of worms in a smaller area, but there are occasions when I stumble upon a worm in an unexpected place.  With a worm I can catch a fish and with a fish I can catch a bird.  With a bird I can catch a cat and with a cat I can catch a fox with which in turn I could catch a bear.  Apparently bears are good eating if cooked right. They can provide meals for an extended period of time.  Of course, I could just go to the supermarket and get something to eat.
But the point for me is no matter where a worm comes from, it is capable of being used for catching substantial prey.
In the same way I might not necessarily agree with the source of something, but I alone can choose to embrace or reject something.  To me it is silly just to reject something only because I do not like the source.  I can easily be the one to miss out if I fail to consider something just because I do not like the source.
But I do like to go where the worms are.  I prefer many worms close together rather than one worm among a lot of rubbish.  The easier something is to get the better in my mind.
