Head Banging

I wanted a wall to bang my head against this morning.  It was a song that was playing.  It was the title track from the “Impossible” album by Lucey Strum.  Merril suggested she should join me and wanted to know where a guitar was that she could smash up.
It starts quietly enough.  Merril thought perhaps some Jewish music was on the way.  All I could suggest was this was Jewish music with a difference.  Apart from being nothing like it, it is exactly the same.
It occurred to me that perhaps smashing things up was a way I could get out of washing up.  I would need to pick the inexpensive crockery.  I reckon it would only need to happen once.  Walking bare foot would be out for a while.  Thing is, I don’t want to do it, and never would.  Apart from that it is a done deal.
Stravinsky apparently once composed a piece of music that had the audience ripping the chairs out of the auditorium.  I don’t know that anyone had gone there thinking “tonight’s a perfect night for ripping chairs out of the auditorium.”  It is even less likely that many had the same thing in mind when they went there.  Music is pretty powerful.
I had to write a critic on a piece of music for an assignment.  Boy was the music depressing.  If depressed was the mood of choice, this was the music to play.  It was the sort of thing that was good to do and move on from.  What made that harder for me though was there was a line I could not understand the words of.  It required listening to that bit multiple times, and still I could not get it.
The person that was teaching that subject was also teaching the guitar.  One assignment was to demonstrate we could name a number of chords (of our choice) and stum while he conducted.  I thought I was being a bit clever by having one of my chords as the open guitar pressing on nothing.  That is a chord.  It is Em7 plus a double pike or something.
He had a surprise for me though.  The end of the song I was strumming while he conducted was not the end.  I thought it would be, but he kept conducting and I kept strumming.
He formed a choir and was looking for a name.  His last name was Warner, and someone suggested “Warners Warblers.”  Needless to say, that was not the name decided on.
But for now, the crockery is safe.  The music player is off, and I am off doing other things.  But I might just put the song on repeat and find a wall.
