It's Time

It is weird.  I am feeling like I have not done in ages.  I am feeling I have enough on my plate to get organized.  Till now it has been the odd thing and keeping track was fairly straight forward.  But now it seems there is enough for me to need to keep a track of what needs to happen when.
There are weekly and monthly tasks I need to track and remind others about too.  Last week it was only the graciousness of others that saved my bacon.  I had a very public duty to perform and only when I got there did I discover the ones assigned to assist me were no shows.  Fortunately, a couple of others stepped into the breach, and we were able to seamlessly go on.  I learned a valuable lesson from that one.  Always check that people know what to do and when.
This covid thing is wreaking havoc too.  People assigned to a task are unavailable due to isolating because they are close contacts.  For something to be done others are needed or the task does not happen.
I am very big on saying no.  Most times I am ok to help out but there are times for my own sanity I need to say no.  I have found the quickest way to burn out is to say yes to every need that presents itself.  Often there is someone else waiting in the wings.  At other times it may not happen at all.  I find I am not responsible for all, but I am responsible for me.  I am no good in any situation if I have taken it on merely because I see a need.  There are heaps of people and I am not the one for all.
That is just talking about unexpected happenings.  It is the expected that have grown for me.  I have taken on stuff willingly, but my nature is to embrace it and emerge myself in it.  Doing the minimum has never been enough for me.  I will endeavour to take something further.
But I acknowledge I am a work in progress.  So often after something is over, I give time to what went wrong (sometimes just in my mind) and try to figure out how it can never happen again.  I have become very acquainted with humble pie.
It would be one thing if I just learned from what I had taken on.  But I have a habit of becoming familiar with something and then taking on something else I am totally unfamiliar with. Definitely inch by inch everything is a cinch as far as processes go, but put people in the mix and the unexpected becomes expected.
I have taken on a roll that if asked about a few years ago would probably have been at the bottom of my list.    I love the time, but talk about throwing people into the mix being a recipe for the unexpected.
That is one of the things I have taken on.  There are others and the time has come for my peace of mind, for me to work out and establish what needs to happen when.
