It's Time

Please excuse me while I block my ears.  The garden is calling me.  I have done some stuff and am really pleased with the results.  It could have been a mistake making a list of things to do though.  Instead of diminishing, the list seems to be growing.  I only hope the plants grow.
I can only ignore the garden for so long, as I do have more plants to plant.  The time for sitting back and oohing and arrring about what has been done is coming very quickly to an end.  Those silly pants have a limited life span without dirt or water. Note to self: plastic plants don’t.  I must confess though that, knowing full well what it was, someone pointed to one of our plastic plants and tried to tell me it was time I watered it.  That was the same guy though that told me our ornamental ant was the biggest ant he had ever seen.  I think he has the problem and not me.
I have had the calculator out.  I wanted to see how many seconds 70 years was.  It is 2,207,520,000.  I must confess I am not game to check that figure yet.  In case it is wrong.  It was right for me once though.  That’ll do.  Wow.  I just checked it and I got the same figure.  Of course, I may have just done it the wrong way twice.
70 years is basically a human life span.  In some societies it is shorter.  In some it is way longer.  In Australia right now 84 or something is the average.  For women that is.  For men it is shorter.  Of course that is understandable as we live way harder lives.  Lol.  That was just said so the women would come out fighting.
I am 61 years, 2 months, 55 days, 12 hours and zero minutes old. But who’s counting. So on 70 years I am well on the way.  As someone said to me, “I know that what lies ahead is shorter than what has gone before.”  Actually, that was the same person who encouraged me to water the plastic plant so maybe I should question that.
Having worked in maternity Merril sometimes saw some sad stuff.  Thankfully they were the exception.  Like a baby living 0 seconds.  Or babies that did not even make it out of the womb alive.  Fortunately most made it home.  I did.  Though I can only go by what I am told, as I don’t remember that.  I must have made it because I do remember individual family members living in my house.  Hmmmm, I was only told they were my family to.  Maybe they were not my family?  I think they were though.  They treated me like family.
I guess the variations is why averages are used.  Dad lived to 97.  That is a lot more seconds than calculated above.  Mum was 71.  That is close to average.  I don’t know how long I will be around.  I imagine someone doing an Ancestry chart will have a line that goes to Peter Kuskie and says in brackets (70) or whatever the figure is.
I guess if I am going to learn to cook, I should do it now, as I cannot guarantee me doing it in five years time.  Actually, bad example, as I have no intension of doing that.
Maybe the old adage “do it now” is appropriate, as now is all I can be sure of.  Maybe I should unblock my ears to, but let’s not get carried away.
