It's Quiet - Too Quiet

I guess there is a first time for everything.  I read the clock wrong this morning.  We add about an hour to the time on our clock as it went awry a while back as a result of a power outage.  We have not fixed it yet.
So I normally add about an hour.  Trouble is I can have trouble distinguishing the time at the distance it is from me.  It happened this time.  I thought it was around 4am.  I have been trying to get up a little later around 4.30am.  (Though I know I have trouble just lying there if I am awake.)
This time though I failed miserably.  I got up around what I thought was 4am.  I had done several things which had taken I imagine going on an hour.  The thing was when I sat down again at my computer I did a double take.  It said 3.51.  Boy had I been early.  No wonder an email I had been expecting had not come through yet.
I did read an email about conflict management.  A guy was sharing something he had found helpful, and the topic rang a bell with me.  He was saying sometimes the volume of the noise around does not indicate the amount of opposition but just the volume of opposition.  Sometimes say 5 of 100 can sound like 95.
Another point he made which I am still processing but to me holds true is that often no noise does not indicate support of an opposition cause but apathy – a tireness from, or an unwillingness to engage in something.
I personally reckon that can be true.  I think it is often what is called here “the silent majority.”
Yet I must admit sometimes the “do nothing” approach means an undoing of what I hold to.  It reminds me of the saying that says something like, “for evil to triumph it only needs good men to do nothing.”  Sometimes I think winning is not so much about overcoming resistance but not meeting resistance.
Anyway that was my super early musing.  The car that picks up a guy (they must work in a bakery or something) was not late.  I was early.  “It’s quiet.  Too quiet.”  I think I know why now.
