It's Not All About Me

Here I am up early this Saturday morning.  I do this once per month as I have guys over for what is called Menzone.  It is guys getting together to eat, chin wag and hear from someone relatable as far as guy issues go.  I open the place once per month for that.
Something I had not thought of before went through my consciousness this morning and I reckon it is worth giving more thought to.
Up to this point I have thought a lot about being ready and making sure I have what is needed to ensure the guys do not lack for anything needed for the morning.  It means getting bacon and the like, ensuring the place is tidy and set up for visitors (Merril does heaps in that regard), organizing a cook for the morning and a number of other things.
Yet it hit me this morning that it is not about me.  I am to facilitate and endevour to ensure things run smoothly.  Naturally I want it to go well and prefer that nothing is lacking that I should have made provision for.
Yet really that is a means to an end and not an end in itself.  The real goal is that those who come leave feeling their needs have been met.  I can only do so much.  Going away satisfied with more than just a feed is something I cannot determine.
This is where it is about them comes into play.  As I say I do what I can to ensure all is seamless but the result of what happens in a human heart is not mine to determine.  I think about when I go to things.  I admit I am not thinking about the host or the set up of the venue.  I am more likely to be thinking about who I will meet, what I will eat and if it is going to be a good time.
So I am approaching today with that in mind.  It is not about me, it is about others.  I want any who come to go away thinking I am glad I went.
