It Is Cold

It has gotten cold again.  Yesterday was like the perfect day.  The temperature may not have been as high as I sometimes like it but at least the atmosphere was humid.  I can certainly take that.  Today though it again feels cold.  The air is dry and thin and to make matters worse there is a wind.
Being from North Queensland I have never been that keen on the cold.  But I feel like I have got used to it.  Not this year though.  It is like no matter how I dress the cold goes through me.
I maintain that to not feel cold dress appropriately.  I still hold to that but it almost seems that what should be enough is not this year.
I admit I am not into the layers of cloths.  I prefer that the weather determines I can dress lightly.  But admittedly sometimes the heat seems over the top.  On some occasions playing table tennis necessitates the cloths go through the washing machine a couple of times.  The exertion just means they are so wet and smelly.
It seems that the saying “Queensland – beautiful one day, perfect the next” is occasionally true but less now it seems than it was.  Floods, fires, heat, cold seems to be our portion more than it was.
The thing is I still consider that this is the best place to live.  An old doctor I had that has retired now said to me “if you were a bug, why wouldn’t you live here.”  Although that was said a number of years ago I do still consider it true.
What gets me, and I may be mistaken, is this still seems to be as good as it gets.  We are not living near an active volcano and earthquakes are extremely rare and mild.  Landslides are incredibly rare in the whole of our land.  If they do happen minimal people are displaced or killed.  We are an isolated Island and until this point have managed to keep a number of the nasties that are rife elsewhere, at bay.
But it seems to me things are changing.  I know I do not need to go into the why’s of why that is the case.  I am a participant.  I do not need convincing with no evidence as I can see and feel the evidence.
I still maintain, and will continue to do so, a positive outlook.  I will continue to do what I can, but it seems what is happening is bigger than me.  I am still upright and continue to breath, and while I can and while that is the case, I will do my part.  It is just that right now I feel I need another jumper on to do it.
