Isolation Survival

9/5/2020

I reckon I have been surviving this isolation thing pretty well.  I am sure the wild look in my eyes will pass.  Though I think my eyes darting from side to side will need to stop when I start mixing with people again.
Although Merril informs me when I need a haircut and I avoid it, I will need to insist on personal grooming again.  I am hoping that will stop me looking like Einstein on a bad hair day.  My hair tends to grow out in tight circles.  Sorta like a wire scourer.   Admittedly there is not a lot of hair, but what there is makes up for that.
Still, running away when I am told I need a hair cut has improved my fitness and hiding skills.  Under the bed has been great, as I know when someone is in the room by the feet I can see.  Though if Merril reads this I have probably given away my spot and will need to find another.
But that is not guaranteed, as Merril told me the other day she had a doll as a kid and when her mum told her it had human hair, she cut it thinking it would grow back again.  Birds of a feather maybe.
I have managed to achieve a lot while house bound.  Moving things from one place to another makes it look like so much has been done.  I’ve even had the radical thought of eventually putting stuff where it belongs, but that is probably just weird.
We have employed a few trades people to do stuff we needed done.  The red Carpet and trumpets announcing their arrival was probably a bit much.  Still, it was good to see them for sure.  I know I will need to stop treating everyone like the relative I have longed to see for 20 years who has come back into my life.
Good stuff, but things we did not want ended up as give aways on the verge.  Me being near the pile with a pleading look probably dissuaded people initially.  In the end though, everything went.
My give away sign has come in and out of the house.  I am not sure if “give away” tells the story though.  Perhaps it needs to say something like “you will be doing us a huge favour if you take this.  You may never use it, and only think you want it, but not our problem.  You took it now you deal with it.  We have a no returns policy here.  We are not taking it back.  Can’t make us.”  In the meantime, “give away” will have to do.
I guess Merril driving out to get groceries or see someone is reasonable.  Besides, chaining myself to the tyre is probably not the best place to do it.  Also I think I may be on to something with this food satisfying hunger thought.  They seem to go together.
I have been trying to make the best of a bad situation.  So far, so good.
