Inspiration

Merril does and says so much that is inspirational.  The mum is a great sewer.  So is Merril.  Merril brought out fabric before, and told me what she had in mind.  To me, it is a great idea.  I know I can’t go there as it is not something I do, but I really enjoy the results.
It seems inspiration can come from anywhere.  So often I have heard of someone sharing something, or seeing something, that became the inspiration for a great or life changing, or both, thing.  Writers are inspired by an idea for a story.  Movie makers are sometimes inspired by true life events to make a movie.  Inventers are inspired to make something.  Sometimes they are the simplest thing that make a huge difference to the quality of life.  I am thinking of wheels on luggage.
I heard the guy who invented post it notes, worked for 3M, but had his idea rejected.  What he did was, he put post it notes on all his correspondence, and the boss saw it and liked it, and the idea came to life.
When I get something in my head, I like to look up its meaning, and where it came from.  I was really surprised that the word “inspire” comes from a Latin word that means a number of things including, “to breathe life into” or “to blow upon”.  It is like what I have done when I started a fire.  Normally I am crouched and blowing to get the flame going.  It may start as nothing, and then become smoke, and eventually light up.  To encourage it, I blow on it, which tends to establish it and bring it to life.  We do know someone though who bypasses all that, and just throws petrol on the lot.  That works too.
Inspiration is to me, one of those words that is neutral.  Inspiration can be used for good or for bad.  We see at the moment, with the internet, so much that was meant for good, being used for bad.  As in all things, it is a choice.
They say that life is 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration.  To me it is the 10% that matters big time.  It makes the 90% worth it.  Without that 10% the 90% is a waste of time.
Everyday life is hardly inspirational.  There are things I just need to do.  It seems it is ideas over and above the norm, and that change things for the better that are…well…inspirational.  They are everywhere.  We are surrounded by them.
The latest we are interested in, is available from the Post Office, and is wheels that enable a person to shift any furniture.  Personally I think all furniture should come with wheels (with brakes) to enable it to be shifted easily.  Right now some furniture stays where it is, because to move it involves too much.
I like to be inspired.  It makes getting up in the morning more than a chore.  Sometimes I just do what I gotta do.  At other times, I am inspired which seems to engender creativity.  It is the 90% I would like to do without.
