Imperfect

This being a part of the human race can be a real downer.  It would be way easier if I were perfect.  Every decision I make would be the right one.  Others would thrive on just a phrase or word from me.  I would have solved the weed problem ages ago.
Alas, it is not that way.  I toil, I sweat, I have victories and I have defeats.  It does not mean all my individual decisions are wrong.  Often they are right.  But not always.
Doesn’t mean I don’t act like I’m perfect sometimes.  I expect everyone to see the wisdom of my ways and embrace my suggestions holus bolus.  The trouble is if they do so we may all come a cropper.  As Mary Blige said , “So many people are like, 'I'm perfect.' I'm so imperfect; that's why I'm able to let everything out and let people see everything. 'Cause I'm just a mess like every other person that's a mess out there.”
I sometimes defer decisions to another.  Same story.  Most things are good, but some are not.
I would be kidding myself to say that I am perfect.  It would be self-deception.  It seems the older I get the more real my inadequacy seems.  If the call went out asking those who had never made a mistake to stay, I would be one of the first to leave.
I love some of the stuff someone called Brene Brown says.  “I’m an experienced mapmaker and a stumbling traveller.” That’s me!  Merril read one of my posts and commented I was name dropping.  All I can say to that is “yes.”  I really do like some of the things people say.  Worth citing I reckon.  It is probably why I do.
Being imperfect does not stop me trying.  I may not get it right first time, but I may get it right.  I do take comfort in what George Soros says, “Once we realize that imperfect understanding is the human condition there is no shame in being wrong, only in failing to correct our mistakes.”
That is probably why all of life is a learning curve for me.  How does the saying go? “To err is human, to forgive is divine.”  I was amazed to see a book has been written called “To err is human.”  It is on building a safer health system.  Seems appropriate right now.
I make mistakes but I am not a mistake.  As imperfect as I am, I can be used to make something good. ““You're imperfect, and you're wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging.”  (Brene Brown)
