Immunization

I think I am going to have to get more light bulbs.  I’m using them all.
I was thinking about immunization this morning.  Some don’t believe in it.  In fact, one of our friends is really strongly against it.  He has been to court about it and everything.
That is not Merril and I, but we totally believe people have a right to believe what they believe.  But to me, it is not right to believe something and have others pay a high price for it.  We were on holidays in northern NSW and went to the markets.  A lady had a child there that was as sick as a dog.  We thought “that child should not be here.” 
From my understanding of immunization, I get given a little bit of the problem, so my body recognises it and fights it.  The thinking is, when the full-blown problem comes my body is ready for it, recognizes it, and fights it.
I did resist getting the flu shot for ages.  My doctor thinks my thinking is an old wives tale, but I had seen it too often to think the same.  It seemed so many got the shot and got the flu.  Not just a little bit but a lot.  Fortunately, that is not the case in most instances.  I had just seen a cluster.  I had the shot this year and did not get the flu.
Why thinking about this was a bit of an eye opener for me was that I can get immunized and miss out as a result.
There may be something that is really good for me, and I have only experienced a little of it.  Really just enough to make me immune to all there is.  I guess it is a bit like learning something.  I know a bit about excel.  Enough to get me by.  The thing is, it can do so much more.  I’m immune to that.  Many times, my silence is interpreted as knowledge when it is ignorance.  I was learning an on-line program called Drupal.  I appeared to know the most when I said nothing.  It was obvious how badly I had failed when someone suggested there is medication for Drupal.
There are some things I do not want to miss out on.  Why settle for a little when I can have a lot?   People often invest in something when it is showing no signs of really going somewhere.  Then it takes off.  The little was a for-taste of a lot.
I don’t like having filled up on something at home only to go to somewhere else and find there is a lot of stuff on offer that I cannot have because I am full.  I like it better to have a lot of the good stuff.  It does not matter to me if I am virtually comatose from eating so much.  I reckon it is worth it.
To me, immunization from disease is good.  Immunization that prevents me from getting more of the good stuff, is bad.
