Immunity

Immune
I was thinking about immunity when Merril mentioned it out of the blue.  That was enough for me, especially as it seems immunity is flavour of the month with the first people in England getting the Covid 19 vaccine.  The great hope right now seems to be that 2020 will end, and 2021 will bring a vaccine and life will return to normal.  I guess I was thinking about immunity as it seems to me it can be both a good and a bad thing.
Playing in the mud, while fun, was never seen as healthy, but judging by the amount of allergies around today, it may have been a good thing.
Merrill and I watch Gruen.  Recently, it included a section on the health industry.  Apparently because all the gyms closed down, there has been a proliferation of Apps.  They sold themselves promoting reduced expense, while gyms highlighted the social element, along with the equipment available.
One of the types of apps talked about in the Wellness field was “mind” apps., and how much more difficult success was to quantify.  With dieting apps people can see they are losing weight, and with healthy living apps. people can increase their immunity by eating more vegetables, going for walks, and limiting stress and drinks.
With mind apps. results are more subjective.  Yet it seems mind immunity is important but often overlooked.  My mind diet matters.  Associating with negative people is not a good idea.  But when it comes to what I feed my mind, I am much more likely to feed it anything in the mistaken confidence I am immune to negative influences.  It is no wonder they say garbage in, garbage out.
A greater danger still for me, is getting just enough of something good I need, and building up an immunity, thinking I have done all that is needed.  I don’t want to be so set in my ways that I ignore better for good.  While I know anchor points are important, there is much that is not a “there is no other way” thing.
I reckon thinking there is can be dangerous.  I do not want to be so closed off to something that I miss its benefits.  It is great to be immune to stuff that over the long term may do me in.  I do not know it is such a good thing to be immune to what over the long term is good for me and to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I think that for me to avoid that, a fresh start is important - not trying to make good thinking fit into the old way of thinking or doing something the same way and expecting different results.  It does not work.  I never achieve what I set out to.  I throw my hands up declaring it is all too hard.
Starting and abandoning can have immunity as a legacy.  I need to start again with a fresh approach.  Old and new cannot mix. New needs new rather than a mixture.  The old ideas may be valid, but they must be approached in a new way.
I have found it is never too late to start.  The benefits may be realized over a shorter time, but there are benefits that make it worthwhile.
