Imagery

I guess I am into imagery.  I love it when words paint a picture in my mind.  I suppose that is the effect of all words.  My bent is loving to hear something that resounds in me.  I remember buying an album based on its title only.  I had never heard “Local Hero” but I loved that title.  It turns out it was by a Knopfler, and it was a really great album.
I have also learned not to disparage something, as it may not be what I need, at this time.  I have heard something I really liked, and not liked the rest of what I heard at the time.  Yet when I have gone back to it maybe years later, and it is like I am hearing it for the first time.  It really means something to me now, but it did not back then.
What got me thinking about this was this morning I listened to a song called “Love is on the Move” by a group called Leeland.  I have only one of their albums, and I am not into their stuff at this time, but I love the imagery of love being on the move.  Apparently others like it too, as that was the title of the album.
It is probably why I am into Bob Dylan.  “Tight connection to my Heart” is currently playing and those words paint a real picture for me.  I cannot forget some words of his from some song that said “it’s like I’m hanging inside a painting, that’s hanging in the Louvre.  My nose starts to tickle and my throat itches but I know that I can’t move.”  The way he writes I guess was responsible for him receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature.  It was controversial, but he got it.
It is not just famous people that say stuff that is memorable.  No doubt that is why I like the saying “there are many voices in the world and none of them is without significance.”  It is possibly just a matter of putting something some way that someone else relates to at the time.  Switchfoot “I’m not sentimental, this skin and bones is a rental.”  It is probably also why I like a lot of what is posted on Facebook.  They can be original thoughts, or posts of sayings.  Just this morning I read a post that said “It is ok to not be ok.  Some days are just harder than others.”  I like that.  I relate to that.  It is one of many.
C.S.Lewis in the Narnia series talked of Aslan being on the move.  I seem to remember the kids in the story, saying things like there are reports that Aslan is on the move.  To me he represented love in these stories.  Not the romantic love, but the strong tough love love.  Both types of love have their place, but as much as it can scare me, I need the tough love for my life.  I do know though, that whatever happens, it is for the best.
