I Made It

Yay me!  Patting myself on the back is sort of awkward.
When I started this “blog” as it has been called, my goal was to write a years’ worth of stuff.  That meant 366 articles to include the leap year.  I knew a guy at QUT who had his birthday on the 29th of February so although he was 32, he was only 8.  I must admit I have been thinking “what can I write about now?” as the 366 loomed ever closer.
This is article 367.  I made it.  What’s more, I lived to tell the story.  367 does not mean I have posted them all.  Last count there were 60 I had not posted.  I find that really handy as some days I write nothing.  On those days I can use one I have never posted.  Most things are not time specific.  Some are, and I don’t go back and post them.  The good thing for me is, no one else knows what is fresh, and what is from the vault.
Some may feel it is still the case, but when I started out I did not know what I was doing.  Various ones have made comments along the way, which have helped me change my ways when I needed to.  Instead of saying “It’s quiet, too quiet,” I was told “it is long, too long” at one stage.  From then on I aimed for around 500 words.  Anywhere from 400 to 600 was acceptable to me.  I do like being 400 and something as it gives me scope to add something if I think it should be.  This morning what I was writing had reached the high 700rds so I made it two things, and added a bit to each.
I had been going a while when someone said the thing was too long, so there are probably ones I could go back and shorten or make two articles.  I need to have the inclination to do that, and it is not guaranteed.
In Sesame Street the Count said “I am the Count, I love to Count.”  Me, I love to write.  It is just what I do.  Others do other things.  I write.  I guess there is another side to this.  I like to write, others like to read.  That is just as well for me.  Still if no one else read this stuff I know of at least one that does.  Me.   Merril does so that is two.  My brother does so that is three.  Various comments and likes along the way tell me that others read this stuff.  Potentially it is over a billion people.  I think the reality is very different though.
If I was not doing this I would be doing something else.  It is probably better for everyone that I am doing this, rather than running amuck.
So what is next?  I will just keep on writing.  It is the writing season.  I have put about 200 articles in a folder which is ideal for reading in the little room.  Must find that folder.  If I like something I have written, there is a good chance it will replace something I was not as keen on.
I like to think about things and think things through.  Writing gives me the chance to do that.  It is an aim though, and not a given.
