Hurry avoiding hurry

Yesterday was a bit like what is says on a humorous plaque “on this spot in 1842, nothing happened.”
It was a bit like that here yesterday.  On Sunday afternoon I felt wiped out.  I had an ache that had seemed to come from nowhere and a sore throat for a while.  I must admit the word flu occurred to me.  The fact my body was fighting it was confirmed to me later when Merril said she had gotten cold for no reason and perhaps it was the flu.
My doctor has said to me that I always have a bit of an infection in my body.  It has helped me no end in fighting things.  I remember the last time I was really crook.  It was in the 1990’s.  That does not mean I do not get stuff but I tend to get it weaker than I could.  I am thankful for that.  I need to fight things but often they do not develop like they could.
So yesterday I did nothing but sleep and watch some tele.  There were activities around the place I could do but I chose not to.  I chose to just rest.
It co-incidentally very much tied in with a book I am reading at the moment.  It talks about hurry and the need to eliminate it where possible.  What I was going through was sort of different but sort of the same.
The point being made was that so often life is about subtraction rather than addition.  About decreasing complexity and increasing simplicity.  It seems to me to be valid that so much is built on hurry and that our to do lists can be so long that we do not have time for what really matters.
But if I am honest with myself it just leads to me being dis-satisfied.  Business does not mean accomplishment.  They say if you want to get a job done give it to a busy person.  And I am all for being busy yet, to me it must be business aiming for the right target.  Just because I am busy does not mean it is a good thing.
Business is only valuable to me if it is useful business.  Business for its own sake is to me the quickest way to burn out.  It is something I try to avoid with varying degrees of success. Being content in myself matters the most.  That can involve disappointing others, but I know I need to be ok to assist anyone.
So yesterday I veged.  I needed to.  It was not a long-term thing, but a recharging the batteries thing.   I don’t know yet - today could be the same.
