Holiday

​Holiday
The time has arrived.  It was the future, but it is now now.  Real time.  The present.  I just thought how it is said that no wonder they call it the present as is it like a gift.  There is no doubt in my mind that holidays are like a gift.
 Was just reminded of one of the first poems I ever wrote. “It’s holiday time horrah horrah, I’m going by ship. I’m going by car.”  Deep.  Not really.  Though how deep may depend on the water depth.  Though that is not real deep as we are just going to a close offshore Island.  But it is over my head.
Saying we are going by ship is a bit rich too.  Boat would be closer to the truth.  A boat that takes about 50 people and luggage.  If we were following the poem the order we are going would be more correctly by car than “ship”
We have been to this place before.  It is a perfect get away place.  There are always things to do but nothing can be done just as easily.  As it is only a short stay I am not taking my fishing gear.  I have books and my camera.    It is the best of both bushland and beach and there are other activities when we want.  There is a swimming pool but I really hope it is heated.  We can eat out if we want and have that planned to do a couple of times.
One of the things we like is that it is not the sort of “respond to immediately” place.  We can respond but it is subject to ferry times and a drive of at least an hour from the Gold Coast.
We have another couple of weeks booked in October somewhere else.  It is longer and I will take my fishing gear for that one.  Merril was going to be heading into NSW at this time with members of her family but Covid put an end to that.  We just do not know what is going to happen.  Getting back could be difficult and quarantining in a hotel for two weeks expensive.
So together we are sallying forth on our Island adventure.  We do not know what the future holds but we do know who holds the future.  Hopefully there is wildlife perfectly poised for the photo of a lifetime.  Or the beach is mostly deserted.
One time we were at that beach and it was remarkable.  We were spreading the ashes of someone who loved scuba diving and had wanted to visit Fiji.  The wind blew off the land to the water and it never did that.  We had the beach to ourselves and just when we finished a large group of people arrived.
This time we have nothing really planned.  We have both taken books and will no doubt spend time on our computers too.  Oh and Queensland won the last match in the State of Origin.  Gotta be a good sign.
