Holiday

Big day today.  The fact it is raining a lot just adds another level of complexity to it.
Merril and I are going on holidays.  We chose to leave tomorrow because today we have certain commitments it is better to be here for.  I get together with some folk this arvo via zoom and then tonight we have people coming over.  That has all been arranged in the past.  We have other things we do on other days but holidays means making the arrangements necessary and walking away.  We would never have a holiday if we did not do that.
Today is packing day.  Merril has been cooking so that we just pick a meal and have it when we are away.  Good plan.  I will do my share up there too as for Merril a holiday is no cooking and she deserves a holiday as much as I do.  I plan on doing some so I will see what utensils are there.  A clever plan is formulating in my mind.  But it occurs to me if I do not think about it there will be no chance for it to form.  What to do??
Added to that today is Merril’s birthday.  I have done shopping and tried to do it I secret.  I prefer it when Merril is around but to get and pack presents I heed some alone time.  I worked out when I would get it and used it.
We also pack today.  Cloths and stuff are fairly easy.  I also take technology and Merril has set up a dongle for us to access the internet in the way we are accustomed.  There is internet where we are going but mostly that is very limited.  We are not into limited holidays.
We also have a couple of trikes we take with us.  We like to go for rides on these and explore.  I need to make sure they are in order before we go.  They also enable us to go to far afield fishing spots.  I must admit though the fishing has been a fizzer the last few times.  I have more hope this time seeing the flathead being caught around he place.  I remembered today I need to get dome bait for the first day.  It is not like we are going away from civilization.  All we will need is available close to where we are going.  That helps with food.  It means we do not need to pack a lot but get it there.
I do like to do things ahead of time.  So often I think of something after packing and it is too late if I am there.  They do say it takes as ling to do something as you have got and I find that to be true.  Packing early may extend the time but to me it is worth it to have what I need.
Where we can we like to have two two week periods of holidays.  They mean forgetting the regular and recharging the batteries.  We come back better equipped for the things we are involved in.
